The Bay Colony Shakespeare Company is accepting submissions for actors to join our company for the 2017-2018 Performance in Education Tour. BCSC will be producing ‘Romeo and Juliet’ and ‘MacBeth’. Each tour will comprise a cast of eight actors, and actors will be expected to perform in both productions.
Actors selected will also be considered for any mainstage work which will take place in the 2017-2018 season. Actors will also be considered to take part in workshop and education opportunities.
The tour will comprise of a rehearsal period in late August and September. The tour will have two periods, October 2nd to December 1st and January 15th to March 30th. Most performances will take place during school hours.
2016-2017 season was the inaugural PIE tour and almost thirty productions will have been staged by the end of the tour. We expect to perform in excess of fifty shows next season. The tour is expected to visit both Middle and High Schools.
Our tour is not solely limited to Massachusetts, and actors must be willing to work long days if there is a production out of State. Monetary compensation will be pro-rated if and when required.
There is monetary compensation for both rehearsals and performances. 2016-2017 season, rehearsals were $100 a week, and $65 per show.
BCSC is seeking actors who are willing to work hard, dedicated to performing in front of young audiences, are open to rehearsing during the daytime and prepared for early morning starts. Actors must be willing to participate in ‘load in’ and ‘load out’ the shows. Actors must be prepared to work on a long engagement and willing to be called for rehearsals through the season. Ideal candidates should have experience with Shakespeare though it not necessary. BCSC is committed to equality and diversity, we have an open casting procedure and believe strongly in equal opportunities.
Auditions will be attended by Artistic Director Ross MacDonald, Executive Director Eric Joseph and Education Director Tom Grenon.
